Under the title “Confluencia – Camilo Sanín”, Galería Okyo, will exhibit my latest body of work from June 23 until July 28, 2013 in Caracas, Venezuela. This will be my first solo in South America.
The exhibition has been curated by Gerardo Zavarce with an accompanying catalogue. Here is an introductory excerpt of the text:“Colombian artist Camilo Sanín transits through his recent work, a space of confluence, understood as a meeting point aimed at the construction of a visual poetry that favors the dialogical synthesis of the different, the seemingly contrary, the distant, the opposite, the plural and diverse. Beyond line, beyond color and shapes, Sanín suggests the emergence of an unprecedented horizon of meaning, a personal language that converges the complex traditions that make up the cultural itinerary of this young artist. Therefore, there is the need for the pictorial dilemmas to harmonize within a visual field of tensions and to traverse clearly defined signs that denote certain identities: north and south, the rational and the organic, urban and rural, the surface and the underlying structures without suppressing the disruptive forces inherent in these differences.”
The opening will be this Sunday, June 23, 2013 at 11am.
