Fissure

The first painting of 2013

A beginning and ending of sorts.

Fissure (Acrylic on Canvas, 2013, 54 x 48 in.) is the first painting of the new year and the last work completed in the Takoma Park studio. The Washington DC studio has been closed down, as I get ready for the residency at St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

    • The red streak at the edge of the painting stands as a point of origin and departure in the painting. While the paintings rhythm radiates from this angular point, its color and shape serve as a disrupting and fracturing entity. The paintings Fissure emanates from this point.
